Objective
Deschutes County approached Savy with a big idea: They wanted to created a user friendly guide to help the community understand and put to use the practices of reduce, reuse and recycle in Central Oregon. They knew the audience was broad and would need to speak to the business owner as well as provide simple easy to use practices children could incorporate. Once the print guide was complete, they would also need a website providing all of the content contained in the guide available as a resource the community could use any time and any where.
Solution
The Savy team collaborated with Deschutes County and The Environmental Center on developing a name, tagline, color scheme and logo. They knew they wanted something bold and unique that would utilize a symbol the community could buy into and recognize. The final name became “Rethink Waste Guide” and the icon a “thumbs” up symbol. The Savy team helped Deschutes County develop photography of well known members in the community using the thumbs up gesture to demonstrate their “thumb’s up” attitude toward rethinking waste in Central Oregon. The website was designed and developed using a fully loaded content management system and includes a searchable database and built in blogging functionality. The project was a success, and so will be Deschutes County’s push towards rethinking waste in Central Oregon.
